Aspect Spotlight

Quick bit of system lore today, because a few of you asked how the “Aspect” stuff actually works after last issue.

Here’s the short version: Aedric isn’t just leveling a Class. Underneath his ordinary Soul Chart — the stats and skills you’d expect from any Awakened person in Eldoria — he’s Soulbound, which means he carries a second, hidden layer most people never even know exists. That layer is the Soul Space: an inner realm where thirteen distinct guides, called Aspects, test and shape different parts of who he’s becoming.

A celestial seer with starlit skin and eyes like twin galaxies stands in the Veil Observatory, representing the Aspect of Awareness.

Meet the Watcher

The Aspect of Awareness appears as a Celestial Seer, skin glimmering like the night sky, eyes like twin galaxies. Their domain is the Veil Observatory — a place of floating platforms and crystal lenses where perception itself is the terrain. They don’t speak in straight answers. They speak in riddles and layered meaning, and they only reveal insight to a soul willing to quiet down and actually look. Awareness, as a trial theme, isn’t about combat. It’s about perceiving what’s real when everything in front of you is built to convince you otherwise.

A celestial being with flowing hair made of stars and galaxies gazes forward, with planets and nebulae in the background.

Aedric’s first trial

Late in Book 2, Aedric’s Awareness reached the threshold that triggers the Watcher’s first real trial. I’m not going to spell out what happened in it — it’s one of the more personal moments in the book, and I’d rather you experience it on the page than hear it secondhand from me. What I can tell you is the shape of it: the Watcher didn’t test his strength or his sword arm. It tested whether he could recognize a lie even when it looked, felt, and sounded completely real. He passed. The reward was a Soul Focus Stone — a relic that lets him step into the Soul Space on his own terms once a week, instead of only when the Aspects choose to pull him in.

If you haven’t read that far yet, no spoilers ruined here — just know there’s a moment coming that’s less about power and more about what Aedric is willing to see about himself.
